Wefi launches Hope center
The Women Empowerment Foundation International (WEFI) has expanded its mission in Ghana with the launch of a Hope Center dedicated to mental health and family wellbeing. Recognizing that empowerment extends beyond economic and educational support, the Hope Center was established to address the psychological and relational challenges facing women, children, and families in communities WEFI serves. The center brings professional therapeutic care to populations that have historically had limited access to mental health services, reflecting Madam Adjei’s broader vision that lasting empowerment must include emotional and psychological healing alongside material support.
The Hope Center offers a range of evidence-based therapeutic services tailored to different needs. Interpersonal Therapy and Social Recovery Therapy help individuals rebuild relationships and reintegrate into their communities after periods of hardship or trauma. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) supports clients in identifying and reshaping unhelpful thought patterns, while Parent-Child Interaction Therapy strengthens family bonds and improves communication between caregivers and children. For couples and families navigating conflict, Marriage and Family Therapy provides a structured space for resolution and growth.
Rounding out the center’s offerings, Narrative Therapy allows clients to reframe their personal stories and reclaim agency over their experiences, while Feminist Therapy addresses the unique social and gender-based pressures many women face, empowering them within a framework that acknowledges systemic inequality. Together, these services position the Hope Center as a holistic complement to WEFI’s existing education and livelihood programs, reinforcing the foundation’s belief that true empowerment requires healing the whole person, not just meeting material needs.
